2002 Report
Pre Event
Training was under way and a few small group runs were completed. On the 20/21 July 2002, we did not manage to have all of the group together and do century (or near century) rides. The training rides were around Lough Neagh on Saturday, the Sunday run was the Down Coast and Mourne Mountains.Two of the riders dropped out of the event Brian on Wednesday 31 July the other Ryan on Friday2 August 2002. This left 7 riders to cycle from Mizen Head to Malin Head.
Travelling To Mizen
We left Newry around 14:30 in the minibus, the car left around 14:50. A stop to fill up the minibus in Dundalk. The car and minibus reaching the Dunleer M1 turnoff near the same time. Travelling together Port Laoise was the next stop for something to eat before continuing to Mizen via Cork. A few short fuel stops were made.
